Couples Therapy

Online therapy to help you and your partner reconnect, communicate, and move forward together

You used to be on the same team. Lately, it feels like you are speaking different languages, or not speaking at all. Maybe every conversation turns into the same argument. Maybe one of you has pulled away and the other does not know how to reach them anymore.

Couples therapy at Juniper Blu Collective is not about picking sides or assigning blame. It is about helping you and your partner find your way back to each other, with the support of a therapist who knows how to help you get there.

Our therapists work with couples across Maryland, Washington DC, and Pennsylvania through secure online sessions. You do not need to sit in a waiting room together. You do not need to figure this out alone.

What Couples Therapy at Juniper Blu Actually Looks Like

A lot of couples put off therapy because they are not sure what to expect, or because one partner is not convinced it will help. That is completely normal.

Here is what you should know: couples therapy at Juniper Blu Collective is not about sitting on a couch while someone tells you what you are doing wrong. Our therapists are trained in evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and attachment-oriented work. What that means in practice is that your therapist will help you understand the patterns that keep showing up in your relationship and give you real tools to change them.

Sessions happen online through a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. For couples, virtual therapy has some real advantages. You can attend from separate rooms if tensions are high. You can fit sessions into a weekday lunch break without commuting across Bethesda or sitting in DC traffic. And many couples tell us they actually feel more comfortable opening up from home.

What Brings Couples to Juniper Blu Collective

Every couple who reaches out has their own story. But there are patterns we see often.

The conversations that used to feel easy have been replaced by logistics, short answers, or silence. You are both busy, both tired, and neither of you knows how to bring up what is actually wrong without it turning into a fight.

The mental load, the emotional labor, the constant planning. Resentment has been building, and what started as small frustrations now feels like something bigger.

Whether it was infidelity, a betrayal of confidence, or a pattern of dishonesty, rebuilding trust takes more than time. It takes guided, intentional work with someone who can help both of you process what happened and decide what comes next.

A new baby. A move. A job loss. A health scare. Grief. These transitions can pull couples apart, even when both people love each other deeply. Therapy can help you navigate the change together instead of in parallel.

Some couples come to therapy not to save the relationship, but to figure out whether it can be saved. That is a valid reason to come, and our therapists can help you explore that question honestly.

Different communication styles, sensory needs, and ways of processing emotion can create friction that neither person fully understands. Our therapists have experience working with neurodivergent individuals and can help bridge those gaps.

How Online Couples Therapy Works at Juniper Blu Collective

All couples therapy sessions at Juniper Blu Collective happen through secure, HIPAA-compliant video. There is nothing to download and no special equipment needed beyond a phone, tablet, or computer with a camera.

For couples in the DC metro area, including Chevy Chase, Bethesda, Silver Spring, Rockville, and across Montgomery County, online therapy removes one of the biggest barriers to getting started: scheduling. No one has to leave work early or fight Beltway traffic. You log on, you do the work, and you get on with your evening.

Partners do not need to be in the same room during sessions. If you are living apart, traveling, or if it simply feels easier to be in separate spaces, that works.

FAQs

Couples therapy sessions provide a neutral space for you and your partner to explore your relationship challenges. We will guide you through exercises, discussions, and activities designed to improve communication, problem-solving, and emotional connection. You can expect to learn new skills, gain insights into your relationship patterns, and develop strategies for building a stronger partnership.

If you and your partner are stuck in the same arguments, feeling disconnected, struggling to communicate, or going through a transition that is putting pressure on the relationship, therapy can help. You do not need to be in crisis to benefit. Many couples come to Juniper Blu Collective because they want to strengthen what they have before things get worse.

Yes. Research supports the effectiveness of online couples therapy, and our therapists are trained specifically in telebehavioral health. Many couples find virtual sessions more comfortable and easier to schedule. At Juniper Blu Collective, telehealth is not a backup option. It is how we work.

Both partners need to be present and willing to participate. While we understand that a partner may be reluctant, it’s important to note that progress will be limited without the involvement of both partners. If one partner is hesitant, we are happy to talk with you about how to approach that conversation.

The first session is an opportunity for your therapist to learn about your relationship, hear from both partners, and understand what you are hoping to work on. There is no pressure to have everything figured out. Your therapist will outline what the process looks like going forward and answer any questions.

There is no set timeline. Some couples benefit from 8 to 12 sessions focused on a specific issue. Others continue therapy longer as they work through deeper patterns. Your therapist will check in regularly and adjust the approach based on your progress.

Our therapists use a range of evidence-based approaches, including CBT, DBT, ACT, attachment-oriented therapy, and mindfulness-informed practices. The specific approach depends on what you and your partner need. Your therapist will talk with you about this early on so you understand the plan.

Yes. Couples therapy can help you explore whether the relationship is something both partners want to continue investing in. If you do decide to separate, therapy can also support you through that process, especially when it comes to co-parenting, communication, and navigating the transition.

Juniper Blu Collective provides online couples therapy to people located in Maryland, Washington DC, and Pennsylvania.
